“Thank you and your team, we certainly got everything we hoped for and more out of the retreat. I certainly credit your team, both in your preparation and your nimbleness in adjusting as the retreat unfolded in ways none of us could have anticipated.”

SVC assists public and private agencies in improving employee retention rates by developing satisfaction and Stay Surveys, Professional Development Plans, and Staff Retention Processes. SVC recognizes that a key component of recruitment and retention is monitoring and evaluating trends and has provided technical assistance to many agencies.
-
Development and implementation- SVC was a member in the early development of the child welfare core practice model and worked with Behavioral Health Departments and stakeholders on development of Integrated Core Practice Model. SVC also sat on State committees and participated in Core Practice Leadership training and development.
-
SVC worked with 11 Bay Area Counties to develop curricula and implement and evaluate training for “rising stars” in county agencies who were on track to take on leadership roles for the counties. Curricula included hands-on presentations by all 11 counties’ agency directors, pairing with another county to develop and implement a cutting-edge program, and work on presentation skills for Executive Team and Board of Supervisor sessions.
Public Child Welfare: A Casebook for Learning and Teaching
“I love, love, love this public child welfare casebook. It perfectly meets my need for a class that I am teaching in January. I have been looking for case studies to assign to students and so many of the ones I have found are not comprehensive enough. I think this book would be a great complement to our text.”

This book’s authors include SVC President Lisa Molinar partnering with Dr. Michael Austin’s team at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Social Work.
The book is a structured casebook with detailed, rich descriptions of cases that capture the complex and challenging work that child welfare workers engage in every day. The cases were derived from five years of data-mining research drawing on public child welfare case records.
